Swing Beam Shears and Guillotine Shears are two common types of sheet metal processing equipment, you do not know how to choose when buying a shear? After reading this article, you will understand the difference between the two types of shears, including what is the difference in the blades and how to adjust the gap of the shear blades.
1. The difference between Swing Beam Shears and Guillotine Shears
The main difference between a pendulum shear and a gate shear is mainly in the mode of movement, range of use, cutting thickness, cutting accuracy, number of blades, and service life.
Swing Beam shears:
Working principle: the knife frame body in the shear process around a fixed axis for the arc oscillation
Range of use: usually used to cut narrower metal plates
Cutting thickness: usually suitable for cutting plate thickness less than 8mm
Cutting accuracy: because of the arc shear, the shear end face has a certain degree of slope, and processing accuracy is not high, when cutting thicker plates the slope will be more obvious
The number of blades: the upper blade has 2 blades, and the lower blade has 4 blades.
Service life: the number of blades is less, and shorter service life
Cutting Angle: the knife frame cutting mode is fixed angle cutting, so its cutting angle can not be adjusted
Cutting speed: cutting speed can not be adjusted
Guillotine Shears:
Working principle: the knife frame body for vertical linear movement to realize the shearing
Range of use: suitable for cutting wider metal plates, such as steel plates, stainless steel plates, etc.
Cutting thickness: able to cut thicker plates
Cutting accuracy: due to vertical shear, shear end face flat, high processing accuracy
Number of blades: the upper blade has 4 blades, the lower blade also has 4 blades
Service life: the number of blades is more, long service life
Cutting angle: The cutting angle can be adjusted
Cutting speed: Cutting speed can be adjusted
In practice, if the shearing precision requirements are high, and the shear thickness of 8mm or less, you can choose the Swing Beam shear; and if the shear thickness of more than 8mm, or need to carry out different angles of the diagonal cut shear, you can choose the Guillotine Shears.
2. The difference between Swing Beam Shear blades and Guillotine Shear blades
The difference is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Blade shape: the Swing Beam Shear blade is divided into the upper blade and the lower blade, the upper blade is usually a two-sided cut diamond-shaped blade, and the lower blade is a four-sided cut rectangular blade. The Guillotine Shear blades are rectangular blades with four-sided cutouts.
3. Shearing blade replacement steps and points of attention.
The steps to replace the Shear blade are as follows:
1) Remove the nut that fixes the blade;
2) After replacing the new blade, loosen the lower blade fixing screws, and adjust the upper and lower blade gaps from the original base;
3) Turn on the machine and drop the upper knife to the lowest point, and at the same time close the return valve of the return cylinder, so that the upper knife stops at the lowest point;
4) Measure the gap between the upper and lower knife edges with a feeler gauge, adjust the lower knife fixing screws, and adjust the gap to 0.03mm to 0.04mm;
5) Open the return valve, so that the upper knife is upward a little, quickly close the return valve, so that the upper knife stops, and then adjust the gap;
6) Like this from right to left several times, the upper and lower knife gap adjustment uniform, and finally tighten the screws.
When installing the blade, you need to pay attention to the following points:
1) When installing the blade, the sharpened blade will be sharper, so the operator needs to be very careful, it is best to wear gloves in terms of management operations
2) Before installing, need to clean the blade and the knife frame, ensure that the installation surface is free of dirt and impurities;
3) During installation, you need to make sure the position and angle of the blade are correct to ensure the shearing effect;
4) After installation, you need to check the tightness of the blades to ensure that the blades will not loosen or fall off.
4. How to choose the blade gap of the shearer blade?
Adjusting the blade gap of the shearer blades can make the material cut out of the cut smooth. The blade gap needs to be adjusted appropriately according to the thickness of the material. Since there is a difference between the cutting methods of Swing Beam Shear and Guillotine Shear, the blade gap of the two types of equipment is also different. The following is a blade gap adjustment table for reference only:
Material thickness (mm) | Swing Beam Shear blade gap (mm) | Guillotine Shear blade gap (mm) |
1.0-2.0 | 0.15-0.25 | 0.10-0.15 |
2.0-3.0 | 0.25-0.35 | 0.15-0.20 |
3.0-4.0 | 0.35-0.45 | 0.20-0.25 |
4.0-5.0 | 0.45-0.55 | 0.25-0.30 |
5.0-6.0 | 0.55-0.65 | 0.30-0.35 |
6.0-8.0 | 0.65-0.75 | 0.35-0.40 |
10.0-12.0 | 0.85-0.95 | 0.45-0.50 |
It should be noted that the data in the above table is for reference only, and the specific blade gap adjustment should be adjusted appropriately according to the actual situation. When adjusting the blade gap, you can first carry out a test cut to observe the quality of the cut, and then fine-tune as needed until the desired cut is achieved.
